As
all we know Children's films are all over the place on DVD and Blu-ray
these days, with more and more coming out in the summertime. One of the
first to jump on the theatrical bandwagon for the season was Rio.
On April 15, the Spanish-influenced family friendly movie Rio graced the
theater screens with zeal. Children lined up to see the new animated
movie. “Comical, colorful, wonderfully cast and beautifully animated Rio
is the first Blue Sky movie that could be compared to the best of
Pixar,” wrote Roger Moore of the Orlando Sentinel.
Rio, often promoted as Rio, The movie is a 2011 American 3D
computer-animated musical comedy film produced by Blue Sky Studios and
directed by Carlos Saldanha. The title refers to the Brazilian city of
Rio de Janeiro, in which the film is set. The film features the voices
of Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, George Lopez, Jemaine Clement and
Jake T. Austin. The film tells the story of Blu (Eisenberg), a blue
macaw who is taken to Rio de Janeiro to mate with a female. He
eventually falls in love with Jewel (Hathaway), a free spirited macaw,
and together they have to escape from being smuggled by Nigel (Clement),
a cockatoo.
Not many films can say they've had cross-promotional content on the same
level as this one has, with the film's advertising going an interesting
route with their very own Angry Birds game and FarmVille content. Talk
about being in-the-now. That content continues on the Blu-ray iteration
of the release, which will contain exclusive Angry Birds levels that
promise to showcase the characters from the film. If you want to have a

The film follows a domesticated Spix Macaw named Blu (Jesse Eisenberg,
The Social Network), living thousands of miles away from his homeland,
Brazil. When his human owner Linda (Leslie Mann, 17 Again) discovers
that he is the last male of his kind, they head south to Rio de Janeiro
to meet the only other female.
“This movie was funny, entertaining and so colorful. It was just as
promising as it has been showed by the commercials, “said Marie Buhl, a
sophomore. “It was so cute. My little sisters and I loved it; this is a
great family movie. Everyone should take their siblings so go see this
movie.” So there you have it, another box office hit from Pixar. Pixar
has already given us the Toy Story trilogy, Cars, The Incredibles, UP,
Ratatouille, and now Rio. What will they come up with next? All we have
to do is just wait and see what will happen.
